Frequent health concerns

Hotspot or wet skin inflammation

“Hot-spot”, i.e. wet, purulent skin inflammation, is a common concern in dogs with a dense undercoat during the summer. It is a bacterial skin infection that causes significant discomfort and pain to the animal. The problem place must be dealt with immediately, because the hearth expands quickly. The disease site is red, swollen, hot and foul-smelling. Dogs living outdoors in hot weather may also have fleas in these places. To confirm the diagnosis, the veterinarian performs a clinical examination, if necessary, takes a sample from the surface of the skin and examines it with a microscope.

Treatment

Depending on the extent of skin inflammation, the veterinarian may prescribe local or systemic treatment.
