Infection

Contact infection (direct and indirect). Direct contact: Handling an infected animal. Indirect contact: through objects that have been in contact with an infected animal. The risk of infection is greater in animals whose immune system is weakened: young and old. The condition of the skin also affects the infection, i.e. the presence of microdamages in the skin.

Clinic

Hairy, reddened areas, peeling skin. Itchy skin may occur, but not always.

Diagnosis

Illumination of skin lesions with a UV lamp, taking a culture and microscopic examination.

Treatment

the veterinarian prescribes antifungal treatment, either local or systemic. Treatment usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks. In this case, it is important to properly clean the external environment, i.e. the living areas, to wash the laundry with the longest possible washing program and at a high temperature.
