Trauma

In the case of trauma, it is important to react quickly to avoid exacerbation of symptoms or complete loss of the eye. As a first aid, keep the eye moist, i.e. rinse with physiological solution (0.9% NaCl) and seek medical attention immediately.

Chronic eye disease

If it is a chronic eye disease: you can see that the shape of the pupil has changed, brown spots have appeared in the area of the iris, this may indicate a tumor (picture 3). In this case, consult a veterinarian. This is not a patient who needs first aid. Eye goiters are relatively rare in cats and dogs. Some eye tumors can be benign, while others can be malignant and spread to other parts of the body. Signs of eye tumors may include eye redness, swelling, discharge, visual disturbances, and swelling around the eye. Treatment depends on the type, size and location of the tumor. In some cases, surgical removal of the eye may be necessary. However, some tumors may respond to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Early detection and treatment is important to ensure the best outcomes for your pet.
